National Payroll Week 2015 (NPW) opened this year with a launch event at the House of Commons on 7 September where Lindsay Melvin, CIPP CEO, announced the start of NPW.

MPs, fellow members and leaders in the payroll industry gathered in the grand building to listen to speeches and learn more about NPW.

Attendees included Julian Knight MP, who hosted the event and has a long-standing relationship with the CIPP, and Robin Walker MP who gave a key speech on the importance of payroll and the vital role it plays within the economy. We also received a letter from David Gauke MP, supporting National Payroll Week. To view the letter please click here.

The event also gave attendees the chance to talk to sponsors NGA HR, The International Association of Bookkeepers (IAB) and Portfolio Payroll.

In addition, Lindsay gave the audience a fascinating speech on the significance of NPW, how payroll it is central to bettering an organisation and the rise of credit unions.

Lindsay said: “The event was a huge success and was well attended. This was the perfect setting to launch NPW and to have the backing and understanding of MPs is an added bonus.”
