Customers are urged to claim their winter bills discount before it's too late

SSE

Major energy supplier SSE is encouraging customers to apply for a £140 discount on their winter heating bills through the Warm Home Discount.

The scheme is about to close to new applicants so SSE is encouraging customers who think they might be eligible to get in touch as soon as possible to claim their discount.

As part of the Government scheme, SSE has made millions of pounds available to customers to help with their heating bills over the winter. Eligible customers can claim the Warm Home Discount of £140; all they have to do is get in touch with SSE.

The scheme is open to two types of households through the ‘Core Group’ and the ‘Broader Group’. Customers in the Core Group will already have been notified about the discount and some may have actually received the discount. But applications are still being sought for the Broader Group.

Customers may be eligible for the discount as part of the Broader Group if they or their partner is in receipt of certain benefits, is chronically sick or is disabled. However, there are only a limited number of places available. So, SSE customers who think they might be eligible should get in contact with SSE as soon as possible.

All in all an estimated 300,000 SSE customers should receive the rebate this winter.

Jacqui Maxwell, Head of Customer Services at SSE said:

“We know the winter months can be a worry for some households as the colder nights set in and the heating comes on. That’s why we’re asking customers to get in touch with us if they think they might be eligible for financial assistance under the Warm Home Discount.

“There’s a discount of £140 available for customers who receive a certain qualifying benefits and are on low income. However, there is a limited amount of money available and applications are due to close soon. So, if a customer thinks they might fit the description they should get in touch as soon as possible to make sure they can get this help.”
