Skills for Justice is developing and piloting a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Home Office Policing for newly recruited police officers in partnership with the four Welsh police forces.

This is the first apprenticeship ever developed and delivered for Home Office Policing in Wales or the UK. We are also working closely with the College of Policing, Association of Chief Police Officers and Welsh and UK Government departments on the delivery of this innovative programme.

Known as The Bridge, the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Home Office Policing is being piloted by three of the Welsh police forces: South Wales Police, Dyfed-Powys Police and Gwent Police. Between 2013 and 2014, 231 newly recruited police officers in these forces will trial this accredited and more standardised approach to recruitment and training. This pilot programme is funded by the Sector Priorities Fund Pilot as part of the European Social Fund (ESF) through the Welsh Government.
