Chief Constable Mike Cunningham, College of Policing CEO, said: “Today’s report recognises the urgent need for additional funding for policing and I support this case to invest in the service and our officers and staff.

“The police service is critically reliant on the quality of its people and there is a responsibility to ensure  they receive the best training and development. This is an investment rather than cost which will better equip the workforce to meet the changing nature of the demand they are facing which has been clearly set out in this report. We will develop leadership across all levels of policing so officers and staff are best supported.

“We will need time to consider the details of this comprehensive report and will work with our partners across policing on its recommendations.”
