We welcome the UK Government’s announcement on their revised National Determined Contributions (NDC’s) and the leadership they’ve shown in addressing the existential threat of climate change, in a year when we’ve seen just how fragile the world and our communities can be.

The announcement adds a highly ambitious 2030 target to the UK’s 2050 carbon neutral goal.

It also sends a clear signal to other governments around the world, who will hopefully follow the UK’s example, in the run up to next week’s anniversary of the landmark Paris climate change agreement.

Bold words require bolder action, and we now need to follow-up with a clear roadmap for how the economy, society and industry can work to deliver these targets and a better planet, for all.

At IKEA, our vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people, and we stand ready to support the UK's plans in whatever way we can.

As a retailer, we’re uniquely placed to support the UK’s journey to a net zero future, as we strive to become circular and climate positive by 2030.
