Employment growth is likely to slow as large cuts in public sector employment kick in and as lower paid workers seek more hours to make up for cuts they face in tax credits says GMB

GMB commented on unemployment figures released today 14thOctober.

Paul Kenny, GMB General Secretary, said "The job losses at Redcar steel and at JCB are dark clouds on the horizon as another slowdown in the world economy is the last thing we need with still 1.7 million still out of work.

Employment growth is likely to slow as large cuts in public sector employment kick in and as lower paid workers seek more hours to make up for the nearly £30 per week cuts they face in tax credits. Also employers bleating about labour shortages have only themselves to blame".
