Mott MacDonald has signed a collaboration agreement with engineering, procurement, construction and project management company China Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd (CPE)1.

The strategic partnership enables increased cooperation between both companies and enhances the services and skills offered to new and existing clients.

The agreement brings together two companies with a successful track record of delivering oil and gas projects. For over 50 years, Mott MacDonald has supported public and private companies in major oil and gas producing regions in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, south east Asia and Asia-Pacific. The consultancy offers a full range of engineering services from concept to commissioning, including feasibility and advisory. It is renowned for its expertise in enhanced oil recovery and its project management and control services on major international developments.

CPE has been involved in numerous projects in the oil and gas, storage tanks and terminals, liquefied natural gas, oil and gas pipelines, power, water treatment and infrastructure sectors. For more than 50 years the company has successfully delivered both greenfield and brownfield projects in China, the Middle East, Africa and central Asia. CPE is the main engineering service provider to Petrochina and China National Petroleum Corporation’s overseas oil and gas field development. It provides whole-life services and supports Petrochina with highly efficient oil gas production in Iraq’s oil field development.

CPE and Mott MacDonald will pursue opportunities in energy, oil and gas - including buildings, pipelines, storage, liquefied natural gas and loading jetties - as well as other infrastructure projects. Together they will deliver engineering consultancy and project management services. The two companies have agreed on ethical and safety requirements, as well as the need to utilise global resources.

Albert Allan, Mott MacDonald’s managing director for oil, gas and petrochemicals, said: “The agreement opens up fantastic opportunities for us in the industry. CPE offers us the possibility of utilising Chinese resources and financial institutions to secure project wins and brings a wealth of experience on major engineering projects in the Middle East, Africa and central Asia. Our combined expertise in project management, engineering, procurement and construction will allow us to deliver greater value for our clients.”
