Musicians from Young Addaction Liverpool Shine at Addaction and Amy Winehouse Foundation Event
A group of artists from Young Addaction Liverpool were given the opportunity to perform at an action-packed music event on 30th September at The Manchester Townhouse Hotel.
Addaction is a national charity, helping individuals and their families recover from drug and alcohol addiction. The musicians that participated in the event are all involved in Young Addaction in various capacities.
The event which was hosted by Addaction was organised to help promote the excellent partnership work between the Addaction and the Amy Winehouse Foundation, in particular the Resilience Programme for schools.
The Amy Winehouse Foundation Resilience Programme – drug and alcohol awareness programme for schools, helps teachers, parents and pupils to better understand drug and alcohol issues, and focuses on the underlying causes of substance misuse.

‘This event gave young people who would not normally get the opportunity to perform a platform to express themselves creatively’.
D.E.V, one of the local artists that performed said: ‘It was like Christmas Day for me… I have never performed in a venue like this before… through music I have been able to tell my story in a way I couldn’t do before’.
Dominic Dunn (@dominic_dunn22), another talented artist who plays the guitar was described by Guardian Journalist Sachin Nakrani as the ‘Coutinho of Music’ described the event as ‘fantastic!’
‘Rosh’ (@OfficialRosh) and ‘Kerr’ (@kerrap) both rappers who perform together said: ‘events like this, especially free, not only give young people opportunities but are a powerful alternative to drinking alcohol or taking drugs’.
Bob Orange, Project Manager at Liverpool Young Addaction spoke about the importance of art
‘Using different art forms, whether this be music, dance or drama are a catapult for young people to build on their artistic strengths. Here in Liverpool we recognise this and are extremely keen to further develop opportunities for the benefit of young people who are at the heart of our organisation’.
