NASUWT comments on the Sutton Trust Report

Commenting on the findings of the Sutton Trusts Chain Effects 2015 report, Chris Keates General Secretary of the NASUWT, the largest teachers union in the UK, said:

“The Sutton Trust’s report findings come as no surprise.

“It is self-evident to everyone, except apparently the Government, that structural change does not of itself raise standards.

“The debate about coasting schools and the provisions of the Education Bill are all a charade. It’s time for the Government to stop pretending that the Education Bill is about raising standards and simply come clean and admit what everyone knows, that its policy objective is to have every school academised for ideological not educational reasons.”
