NASUWT comments on the Triennial Review of the Health and Safety Executive
Commenting on the publication of the Triennial Review of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Chris Keates, General Secretary of the NASUWT, the largest teachers’ union, said:
“This review has rightly acknowledged the important role which the HSE plays in reducing workplace injuries and ill health.
“Since coming to office the Coalition Government has continually trivialised the importance of health and safety.
“The Coalition Government has responded to this review, not by acknowledging that its findings demonstrate that its attack on health and safety provisions is dangerous and ill conceived, but by stating its intention to further commercialise and marketise the HSE.
“It is clear that the health, welfare and lives of working people have little value to the Coalition.”
