The Nuclear Industry Association's Chief Executive, Tom Greatrex, responds to a recent article by Darren Jones MP on climate summit COP 26.

NIA’s Chief Executive, Tom Greatrex stated:

“The UK has world class capabilities in the nuclear power sector which is going to be critical to delivering net zero because of the high volumes of dependable zero carbon power it can provide for generations.

“We are innovators in advanced manufacturing and decommissioning and we have a strong research and development sector.  We have new nuclear reactors under construction and several more waiting to start.”

“COP 26 is an opportunity for the UK to demonstrate real leadership by highlighting nuclear’s role, alongside growth in renewables, in tackling the climate challenge.”
