Osborne’s pothole cash: ‘every little helps’ Institute of Advanced Motorists 1 min read19 March 2014 Partner content The Chancellor’s decision to make £200m available to local authorities for road repairs has been welcomed by the Institute of Advanced Motorists. George Osborne said in his Budget today that the country’s roads “have taken a battering” from the winter storms. He said Tory MP Michael Ellis “has been a persistent campaigner for resources to repair the pot-holes in his constituency and across the country”. “His persistence has paid off and I'm making £200m available which local authorities can bid for. I trust Northampton will be making an application.” IAMdirector of policy and research Neil Greig said: "Every little helps and it will be welcomed in many areas hit by this year’s bad weather. “With a £10bn backlog in repairs however, it is only through consistent long term funding that the pothole problem can finally be fixed."
