The next Regional Question Time for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) will take place on Thursday 22 May at the Village St David’s Hotel in Ewloe, Flintshire.

Veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses within reasonable travelling distance of the venue will be sent invitations to attend the evening. However, all members of the veterinary team are welcome to attend and put their questions to the panel, comprising members of RCVS Council and Veterinary Nurses Council and senior College staff.

The evening will begin with a buffet supper at 6.30pm with the discussion, chaired by RCVS President Colonel Neil Smith, beginning at 7.15pm and finishing at approximately 10pm.

Delegates choose the topics to be discussed on the evening but subjects raised by guests at recent meetings include the future of the Practice Standards Scheme (PSS); the number of veterinary graduates and schools; microchipping; and mental health issues affecting the profession. Those attending the event can submit questions in advance as well as putting questions to the panel on the night.

At the same venue, the RCVS will be running free, private PSS surgeries with Senior Inspector Lorna Francis between 12 noon and 5pm. Practices who wish to find out more about the Scheme before joining, prepare for an upcoming inspection or who wish to ensure they are meeting its Core Standards, should book a place. Places for the 45-minute sessions are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Those who wish to attend the Regional Question Time should register online at www.rcvs.org.uk/QTewloe by Monday 12 May 2014. Questions can also be submitted in advance of the event using this link.

To book a free PSS surgery please contact Fiona Harcourt, Communications Officer, on 020 7202 0773 or f.harcourt@rcvs.org.uk
