The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals launches specialist automatic enrolment guide for small businesses

The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) is today launching a guide that helps employers understand exactly what they need to do to get their data ready for pensions automatic enrolment.

It provides useful tips and pointers on the operational and administrative tasks an employer is now legally responsible for, as part of the automatic enrolment process.

Compiled by members of the CIPP Friends of Automatic Enrolment, the guide is also designed to help those wanting to start to prepare getting their data ready.

The guide is available free to download through the website friendsofae.org.uk and was launched at the ‘capacity crunch’ conference in London.

The event addressed widespread market concerns surrounding the potential for a ‘capacity crunch’ as employers go through the process of meeting their legal obligations with more than 100,000 organisations due to stage in January 2016.

Founding chair, the CIPP’s Friends of Automatic Enrolment, Andy Agathangelou, said: “Our message is very simple; many employers are likely to struggle with the regulations because they are complex and require so much to be done. Failing to comply may result in costly fines and one of the hardest tasks is data preparation – our guide will help with that, and it also shows where to go for further support.”

The guide to data readiness has been put together in collaboration between the CIPP and The Pensions Regulator, SystemSync and HISL, Accurate Data Services Ltd will assist those small and micro businesses yet to stage who don’t know what they need to comply.
