Duncan Hames contested his first election for the Liberal Democrats nearly fourteen years ago. Now, aged just 36, he’s making waves in his party. Amber de Botton, Sky News, reports
Duncan Hames could never be described as work-shy. Over the past nine months, the Liberal Democrat MP has developed six key policy papers that were all successfully voted through at his party’s autumn conference. In the same amount of time it took to formulate those carefully-worded documents – nine months – his wife, and fellow MP, Jo Swinson has been preparing to give birth to their first child, due on Christmas day. Both events are cause for celebration for Hames, the 36-year-old MP for Chippenham.
Although Hames has told colleagues that he thinks life will change dramatically when his first child is born – and he will dedicate time to fatherhood – impending parenthood has not slowed him down so far. ‘Ambitious’ is the word most often associated with Hames by fellow MPs...
