Nigel Farage warns Brexit could still be reversed

John Ashmore

Nigel Farage has warned the Brexit vote could yet be overturned unless Leave supporters "get organised".

The controversial former Ukip leader said a well-organised continuity Remain campaign, spearheaded by groups such as Open Britain, were dominating arguments over the consequences of leaving the EU.

And he suggested Remain-supporting MPs might win a parliamentary vote to effectively reverse the referendum result.

It follows his suggestion earlier this week that there should be a second referendum to definitively settle the question of EU membership.

That suggestion was dismissed by Ukip's current leader, Henry Bolton, who said it would be "damaging to the nation".

Earlier this week Mr Farage met with EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier, after which he said that unless the Frenchman was willing to "compromise" the UK risked leaving the EU without a trade deal.

In an interview conducted on Friday, Mr Farage told the Observer: "The Remain side are making all the running. They have a majority in parliament, and unless we get ourselves organised we could lose the historic victory that was Brexit."

“I think the Leave side is in danger of not even making the argument,” he added.

“The Leave groups need to regather and regroup, because Remain is making all the arguments. After we won the referendum, we closed the doors and stopped making the argument."
