The latest data from the Breathe GB study shows that we need concerted action from government and industry to tackle air pollution, writes the British Safety Council.

The latest data from the Breathe GB study shows that we need concerted action from government and industry to tackle air pollution. Data from the Canairy app, developed by King’s College London and the British Safety Council, confirms that people working outside are exposed to far higher levels of air pollution than indoor workers – borne out by this new data on sports venues. We have already called on the government to introduce tighter limits, as recommended by the World Health Organisation, and we await the publication of the new Environment Bill with interest. The research from Breathe GB and from our own Time to Breathe campaign also highlights the need invest in and expand measurement – at the moment we have only a very limited picture of air pollution levels outside of London.

The British Safety Council will be re-launching Time to Breathe in Manchester on 28 April to coincide with the Air Quality No Air Quality Conference North. You can download the latest report on data from Canairy here.
