IPSE respond to the news that Boris Johnson’s first Queen’s Speech will take place in mid-October.

Simon McVicker, IPSE’s Director of Policy, said: “As time runs out, we continue to urge the Government, Parliament and the European Union to do everything possible to avoid a no-deal Brexit, which could be crippling for many companies.

“To deliver the high-productivity and high-wage economy the Prime Minister wants to see, this Government must get behind the freelance drivers of innovation and productivity that are essential to all industries but particularly science and infrastructure.”

“With so much uncertainty, the upcoming spending round and Queen’s speech must remove any added confusion and strengthen our business base.

"This means scrapping the chaotic IR35 tax changes that have already damaged the NHS and are now adding burden to business. Ministers must also maintain momentum to end late payment, which causes enormous damage to freelancers every day.”
