Four talented students from South Gloucestershire were awarded prizes recently as they won in an Airbus competition to design a paint scheme, or livery, for the new A350 XWB aircraft.

The competition to design the livery on an A350 XWB took place at the 2013 Festival of Youth Sport held in Yate on 29th June which saw primary school children throughout South Gloucestershire compete in a range of sporting activities. More than 50 children entered the competition with four being selected as winners during a tough judging session.

Last week, siblings Kaelum, aged 11 and Tanzie, aged 5 who both attend Yate International Academy Woodland’s Primary Phase in Yate had a visit from Airbus graduate Adam Taylor who presented them both with a professionally produced version of their A350 XWB design as well as a goody bag.

Airbus in the UK has supported the South Gloucestershire Council Festival of Youth Sport since its inception twelve years ago, in that time more than 31,500 children have received sports coaching through the community, with many of the children taking part in the festival celebrations.

Adam Taylor, who presented the prizes said “It is fantastic to be at this school to present these prizes to Kaelum and Tanzie who are both clearly very talented and demonstrated such creative skill. Their designs, along with the other two winners, really stood out and everybody was so excited to see them professionally produced”.

Julie Hogan, head teacher at Woodland’s Primary school said “What a great pleasure it has been to welcome Airbus into our school to present these fabulous prizes to two of our children! It is really encouraging to see local enterprises such as Airbus showing such a keen interest in the local schools – keep up the great work!”
