Expert Advice for Students on A-Level Results Day

University of Hertfordshire

2 min read Partner content

A team of trained staff and students will be on hand at the University of Hertfordshire on Thursday 15 August to offer advice and support for students receiving their A-Level results on what to do next.

Students can call the University’s Clearing hotline on 01707 284848 from 8am to find out all the options that are available to them, on the grades they have achieved.

Callers, who will be understandably nervous about their futures, will be greeted on the telephone by staff specially trained to deal with these emotions and will be given professional advice and guidance about decisions. Current students who have previously gone through the Clearing process will also be on hand to support callers.

The University’s Clearing process is open to everyone. This includes those who have applied through the usual UCAS (University and Colleges Admissions Service) route but have missed out on a place here or at another university or those that have not yet made an application at all. In past years up to 7,000 calls have been taken by the University of Hertfordshire team on the opening day of Clearing.

Sharon Harrison-Barker, academic registrar at the University of Hertfordshire, said: “We are delighted to have maintained the level of students applying for a University place this year, supporting a second-to-none investment we have made in learning and teaching and the overall student experience.

“With a student community of over 27,200 we are very experienced in supporting students throughout their time at University including the application process.

“The University has a wide range of courses on offer and will actively support students who have the potential to succeed through the Clearing process. It is important for students to aspire to furthering their studies – a degree is still a highly valued and important qualification.”

The Clearing hotline will open at 8am on Thursday 15 August until 8pm and then again from 8am to 8pm on Friday 16 August, 10am to 2pm on Saturday 17 August and 9am to 5pm on 19 August onwards.

Information on course options at the University of Hertfordshire is available at www.herts.ac.uk/clearing. Students can also follow updates and post questions to @DiscoverUH via Twitter.
