The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) will yet again be in attendance at the political party conferences this Autumn to raise Members concerns on; the economy and in particular the VAT on glass and glazing products, Green Deal and its slow uptake and the lack of support for funding and training for the industry.

Nigel Rees, GGF Group Chief Executive commented, “I will be attending the Conservative Party Conference Business Day and look forward to attending various events and sessions to raise and discuss our concerns to ministers, policy makers and key influencers.”

At the Conservative Party Conference on the Business Day, the Federation will be face to face with MPs and MEPs in the morning breakout sessions to discuss, energy, employment, local government and planning, skills, treasury and tax. Following these sessions the GGF will attend a Panel Discussion on “Trade and Great Britain” hosted by Lord Green. In the afternoon, a QA session with Rt. Hon Michael Fallon MP, Minister for Business and Enterprise Minister of State for Energy will provide an opportunity for the Federation to ask the minister pertinent questions on business growth. The GGF also intends to attend the afternoon Panel Discussion on “Localism and Business” with Eric Pickles MP.

In the evening, the GGF is planning to attend further events including the Construction Products Association (CPA) Fringe Event and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Business Reception hosted by Chancellor George Osborne.

Nigel Rees added, “It will be a full on itinerary but we will try to ensure our messages are communicated to the relevant ministers and departments. We are starting to see optimism appearing in our industry as the economic climate slowly improves, but it is important that Government continue to build on this and provide the right platform for growth in our industry.”

The GGF had representation last week at the Liberal Democrat Conference in Glasgow and the Federation will also be represented by its political and public affairs advisers GK Strategy at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton 24-27 September.
