Quit smoking during Stoptober
We're backing Public Health England's Stoptober campaign, which challenges people to give up smoking during October.
Smoking damages blood vessels and the structure of the eye. Smokers are three times more likely to develop macular degeneration than non-smokers.
Stoptober will provide a range of free advice and support throughout people's stop smoking attempt, and is based on research that smokers are five times more likely to stay smoke free if they successfully make it through the first four weeks.
The mass 28-day 'stop smoking' campaign took place for the first time last year with 160,000 people successfully completing the challenge.
The Stoptober roadshow will feature more than 30 awareness-driving events at towns and cities across the country.
