Response to Ofgem's State of the Market announcement
Responding to Ofgem's State of the Market announcement today, Chris Weston, Managing Director of British Gas, said:
"Britain's energy market is one of the most competitive in the world, providing choice for consumers and some of the lowest prices in Europe.
“However, we know that we need to rebuild trust in the energy sector and if the proposed review by the independent market regulator clears the air, this must be a good thing. We will be writing to all of our customers in the next few weeks to let them know about the investigation, what it means for them and how we will fully support it.
“We deliver excellent service to our customers and work hard to help them keep their energy bills as low as possible. We provide affordable energy through competitively priced tariffs and help put households and businesses in control of their energy use with innovative products like smart meters and our Hive remote heating control.”
“We play a critical role in the UK keeping lights on and homes heated and make a huge contribution to Britain. We want to ensure this continues.”
