Rob Flello MP Welcomes Low Emission HGV Task Force Report on the use of Bio-Methane
Rob Flello MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Freight Transport, welcomes the publication by the Department for Transport of the recommendations made by the Low Emission HGV Task Force.
Rob said: ‘As Chair of the APPG I have been pushing for the Government to take action on methane and I am pleased to see the DfT publishing these recommendations’
The APPG has pushed for the Government to support investment in the infrastructure required to allow companies to convert their fleets. It has done this following discussion held with the industry.
Rob added: ‘Unless the Government can give industry a firm commitment that it intends to give long term support to the use of bio-methane the UK will lose millions in potential investment.’
As Chair of the APPG, Rob has backed industry calls for the Government to support the adoption of methane but giving the industry assurances that the duty regime will support investment in the long term and won’t be subject to rapid changes.
Rob said ‘The APPG along with industry bodies will continue to push Government to take up these recommendations and hope that the Chancellor will support the adoption of methane in the upcoming budget’
