Santander Corporate Commercial has appointed John Carroll as Head of International. The newly created role brings together Santander’s Trade Finance, International Payments, Supply Chain Finance, Foreign Exchange Solutions and UK Inward Investment divisions into one unit, which will also have responsibility for working with the UK Government and International Chambers of Commerce on trade promotions activities.

As part of an international banking group with more branches than any other international bank as well as a number of alliance partners, Santander UK is ideally placed to provide the expertise and support needed by expanding UK international businesses. Santander UK has been steadily growing its presence in this area and John will be responsible for accelerating this growth and developing additional resources to provide holistic support to international businesses.

John was previously Head of the Financial Institutions Group at Santander and has had a long career in International Finance having held a diverse range of senior roles across the Markets, International Payments and Trade areas with extensive experience in the Asian, Latin American, European and Middle Eastern Markets.

John said: “I am delighted to be appointed to this exciting new role. This is the first time that Santander UK has brought together all the areas designed to support international businesses into the one division. With international banking at a Group level, and SME and Corporate expansion in the UK, both core priorities for Santander, it could not be a more exciting time to take on this role.”
