SYSTRA Regional Programme Director, Sekoura Benissad, has today been announced as the first Chair of RIA Midlands & Eastern.

Sekoura’s appointment is the latest development in the roll-out of RIA’s Nations & Regions Network, which is designed to support RIA members in the areas where they work and live. RIA Midlands & Eastern covers the East and West Midlands and East Anglia, working with sub-national transport bodies and clients like Network Rail and HS2 in the region.

Sekoura is currently the Programme Director for the North West and Central, with the engineering and consulting business at SYSTRA, and leads on all aspects of client engagement, work winning and project delivery in the region.

Commenting on her appointment, Sekoura Benissad said:

“I am delighted to be appointed Chair of RIA Midlands & Eastern. It’s an honour to be able to take an active role in the continued roll-out of RIA’s Nations & Regions Network.

“It’s an exciting time for rail in the region, with the launch of the Midlands Rail Hub OBC, the progress of Midland Mainline, CP7, and not forgetting HS2. All these projects and more are providing a catalyst for change, providing connectivity, growth and opportunity for local people.

“I am incredibly passionate about rail in the region and look forward working with partners, colleagues and policy makers to strengthen the voice of the supply chain and support delivery of regional priorities”.
