Man arrested for allegedly hitting Jeremy Corbyn with an egg on mosque visit

A man has been detained by the police after Jeremy Corbyn was hit with an egg during a trip to a mosque.
The Labour leader was on visit to the Finsbury Park Mosque and Muslim Welfare House in north London's Seven Sisters when the alleged incident occurred on Sunday.
Police said a 41-year old man - thought to be a pro-Brexit campaigner - was "quickly" arrested on suspicion of assault.
According to the Press Association, the attacker was overheard to say "when you vote you get what you vote for".
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "On Sunday, 3 March at around 3.52pm an egg was thrown at a Member of Parliament.
"The incident occurred on Seven Sister’s Road.
"A 41-year-old man was quickly detained by officers on scene and arrested on suspicion of assault.
“He is currently in custody at a north London police station."
Labour MPs rallied round their leader in the wake of the alleged incident, with Jess Phillips saying he "deserves better".
