Everyone Active has become the first national facility operator to gain the ASA quality mark for its Learn to Swim programme.

The nationally recognised accreditation is awarded to swimming providers that have successfully shown they are providing learn to swim programmes that meet ASA and industry-wide standards.

Everyone Active, which has 78 aquatic sites around the country, was awarded the accreditation following an independent assessment of its Learn to Swim scheme.

Jacqui Tillman, Everyone Active’s group swim manager, commented: “We are delighted to be the first leisure operator to receive the ASA Learn to Swim Accreditation. This is a fantastic achievement for us and is a great example of our commitment to helping more children learn to swim and be active. Our scheme has proven hugely successful across all of our participating centres and delivers lessons to over 100,000 children every week.

“We’re very grateful for all the support we receive from the ASA and look forward to continuing our work them in the future.”

Keith Sutton, head of the ASA’s Partnership Provider Programme, said: “The Learn to Swim Accreditation programme sets industry standards for the delivery of swimming programmes and helps to assure parents, customers and leisure managers that good practice is being implemented.

“Everyone Active has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to providing good quality learn to swim provision across its sites and I am pleased this has been recognised with the ASA Accreditation.”

Caroline Constantine, Quest Director, said: “Embedded within Quest, Sport England’s national quality scheme, the ASA Learn to Swim Accreditation is designed for swimming providers who continuously review and develop their programme in line with ASA good practice guidelines, and who want to access a quality mark for service provision. Everyone Active has demonstrated it has an excellent swimming programme.”

Swimming providers are assessed on 30 elements of their provision, including how they implement their Learn to Swim programme, health and safety practices, safeguarding procedures and staff training. Close assessment of all these areas is designed to reassure parents they have identified a provider that meets the high standards set by the national governing body.

ASA Learn to Swim Accreditation is available to all organisations in England delivering a learn to swim programme, including swim schools, schools with swimming programmes, local authority operators, leisure trusts and private leisure providers.
