An extensive beef and lamb export programme will continue to help deliver benefits to the entire supply chain, according to EBLEX.

The news from the beef and lamb division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) came as it prepared to highlight Quality Standard Mark (QSM) beef and lamb cuts during HOFEX, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

HOFEX – the region’s leading food and hospitality trade show – attracts around 2,400 international exhibitors and 40,000 buyers from the region and runs from May 6 to May 9.

EBLEX’s export team will be joined by 14 meat exporters at the event, providing a platform for networking, butchery demonstrations and sampling beef and lamb dishes cooked up with the help of Hong Kong-based chef Michael Erlik.

Jean-Pierre Garnier, EBLEX export manager, said: “Hong Kong is a very important market for premium meat and meat products and we’ve made some major inroads in exporting to the region. HOFEX is the perfect platform for us to continue to showcase our products and build on this, adding value to industry.

“Developing new export opportunities and cultivating the potential in existing markets continues to be one of the cornerstones of EBLEX’s work, helping maximise returns throughout the supply chain. Therefore, HOFEX is a key date in the industry calendar, acting as a shop window to existing and potential markets in Asia.”
