Farmers can now access a wealth of video resources on the go via EBLEXs mobile app even if they dont have a live internet connection.

A new EBLEX TV button on the bottom right of the app home screen which, when clicked, offers three menus under the headings Sheep, Beef and News. Relevant video content, such as ‘how to’ videos and top tips from industry experts, can then be found in each of those sub-menus.

The upgrade has been developed with farmers in mind, particularly those in rural areas who may not have good access to the internet.

Once the videos have been watched the first time, when there is an internet connection, they can be viewed again at any point without any signal at all.

EBLEX media officer Ben Coates said: “Analytics show that the most popular videos on our YouTube channel, EBLEX TV, are the ‘how to’ videos which demonstrate best practice techniques. We wanted to make these available to farmers and producers ‘in the field’ so they can refer to them when they really need to. The app now offers this.”

The EBLEX mobile app also offers the latest prices and trends, plus fast track access to the most commonly accessed areas of the organisation’s stakeholder-facing website. This includes events, news, Better Returns Programme resources and weather reports, localised to the current location. Those features can also be saved to the phone when there is an internet connection, and viewed later when the user is offline.

All of the videos on the mobile app can also be found on EBLEX TV, and they will be updated approximately every six weeks so that seasonal, relevant videos are on hand via the app. Examples of the available ‘how to’ videos include administering anthelmintics, conducting a ram MOT, body condition scoring, using the EBLEX sward stick, harvesting crops for crimping identifying causes of lameness and more.

The EBLEX Mobile app is available for free on both Apple and Android platforms. Please visit Apple’s App Store or Google Play and search for EBLEX.
