Powering Britain's Future 2025

2 min read Partner content

The latest issue of The House magazine features a special report with insights from parliamentarians and industry leaders on powering the UK’s economic, industrial and environmental future

Since its publication in June, the government’s 2025 Modern Industrial Strategy has marked an important shift in the UK’s approach to climate and economic policy. Green ambitions are no longer seen in isolation, but form part of a long-term vision to reindustrialise the UK and secure long-term economic growth.

Energy policy now sits at the heart of a wider plan to revitalise Britain’s industrial heartlands – working in harmony with sectors such as advanced manufacturing, AI, digital infrastructure and biotechnology to rebuild prosperity across the country. This strategy shifts the focus from short-term fixes to lasting structural change, with an emphasis on investment, innovation, skills and global competitiveness.

This supplement brings together the voices of industry experts, parliamentarians and businesses to explore how we can power the UK’s economic, industrial and environmental future.

We hear from Chris McDonald, Minister for Industry who sets out how the UK’s industrial strategy is aligning environmental priorities with the nation’s goals for economic growth, resilience and competitive advantage in the global market. Gareth Davies, Shadow Financial Secretary, warns that high taxes and red tape risk driving investors abroad. And Bill Esterson, Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee, shares insights into the committee’s ongoing inquiries into energy supply chains and its workforce.

Adding to the discussion, Anna Sabine, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Culture, Media and Sport stresses the importance of the UK’s creative industries to the government’s industrial strategy. And Carla Denyer, Green Spokesperson for Energy and Net Zero questions whether the industrial strategy does enough to support workers through the clean energy transition.

From workforce reskilling and infrastructure reform to clean energy investment and AI innovation, this supplement explores how we can power Britain’s future by aligning our environmental goals with national growth, resilience and competitiveness.
