Dot Commons Diary: Philip Davies mulls Conservative leadership bid - sort of

A surprise name was thrown in the mix of potential future Conservative leaders. 


In case you haven’t noticed there is a bit of speculation about the future of Theresa May at the moment.

While some Conservative politicians and activists consider who they might support if there were to be a leadership contest, one MP has selflessly offered himself at the service of the public.

Peter from Newcastle called the BBC’s Any Answers programme to make clear his dissatisfaction with Mrs May – and had a few names in mind for a replacement.

“She’s no good. She’s got to go. She’s got to be replaced by either Philip Davies of Shipley or Liam Fox or David Davis.”

Davies, with rumours of his demise as Shipley’s representative firmly dispelled, responded by confirming he is ready to answer the call of duty – drawing inspiration from the success of one Jeremy Corbyn
