Partygate Fines For Downing Street Lockdown Breaches Double To More Than 100

The number of police fines issued over events in Downing Street during lockdown has now passed 100 (Alamy)

1 min read

There have now been more than 100 fines issued over the lockdown-busting parties in Downing Street, the Metropolitan Police has announced.

The force has released an update on Operation Hillman, the investigation into breaches of Covid-19 regulations in the heart of government.

A statement said officers have made “more than 100 referrals for fixed penalty notices to the ACRO Criminal Records Office”.

Last month they had announced around 50 referrals had been made, meaning there are now double the number of fines being issued.

The Met added: “These referrals have continued to be made throughout the period since our last update on Tuesday 12 April and the investigation remains live.”

There was no information provided on which of the events under investigation the fines refer to, or the individuals who have received the FPNs, but it is understood Boris Johnson has not been sent one.

The Prime Minister, his wife Carrie and the Chancellor Rishi Sunak have previously had fines for attending a birthday party for Johnson in Downing Street.
